Martyna Katarzyna Gibka, PhD

A literary onomastician and assistant lecturer in the Department of English at the University of Szczecin. Defended her PhD thesis "The functions of characters’ proper names in a novel. A theoretical approach and its application" after 18 months of doctoral studies at the University of Gdańsk. Analyses characters' proper names in novels having created her own tools, which might enable the discovering of the methods for preserving the said functions in translations of the literary works. Aims to develop translation onomastics, create practical onomastic tools for literary translators and discover the cognitive nature of each funtion and its recipient.
